Detailed instructions for adding and activating your eSIM

Important details:
Your device must be eSIM compatible and unlocked. See the list of compatible devices here.

Please do not delete or remove your eSIM after you have installed it. You cannot reinstall them.

1. Adding an eSIM to your line

  1. Scan the QR code using your phone's native camera:
    1. If that automatically prompts you to add an eSIM, follow the instructions on the screen to add, label, and enable your eSIM. If your device does not take you through an automated onboarding process, follow the steps below.
    2. Manually add a plan
      1. Go to Settings
      2. Cellular/Mobile
      3. Add Cellular/Mobile Plan
      4. Scan the QR code
If you are unable to scan the QR code from the email, you can do so from your dashboard.
To scan QR code from your dashboard
Log In > Select your eSIM line > Select Click to view (adjacent to the QR Code) > Scan the QR code.
To manually copy the QR code in your phone
Go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile > Add Cellular/Mobile Plan > Copy the information and paste it into the relevant fields in your phone.

2. Set the eSIM as default for Cellular Data (Mobile Data)

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Cellular (or Mobile Data)
  3. Cellular Data (Mobile Data)
  4. Choose your eSIM data plan
  5. Disable Data Switching to prevent your phone from trying to use your other SIM to connect

3. Label your eSIM - Optional

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Cellular (Mobile Data)
  3. Cellular Plans (Mobile Plans)
  4. Click on the eSIM plan
  5. Click on Cellular Plan Label
  6. Select Custom Label
  7. Name it whatever you'd like. We recommend it naming something that helps you identify what destination that eSIM is for. For example, USM eSIM.

4. Enable Data Roaming

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Cellular/Mobile Data
  3. Cellular Plans
  4. Click on the eSIM plan
  5. Make sure Data Roaming is enabled

5. Updating APN settings

In most cases, APNs should auto-configure when the SIM is installed. However, sometimes you may have to update it yourself if you notice that data is not working. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Cellular Data (Mobile Data)
  3. Choose your eSIM plan
  4. Cellular Data Network (Mobile Data Network)
  5. Update the APN under Cellular Data
    1. You can find the APN setting for your destination country here.
  6. Other APN fields are optional.
